Holidazzle Parade

Dad holding Kendall so she could see the lights on the floats.
Kendall liked the Parade since it was mostly lights. The night was perfect for a winter parade...it wasn't too windy or cold. It was odd to go to a Winter parade without snow on the ground though.
She observed the parade floats carefully.

Family at Gertens

Everyone was nice enough to come with us to Kendall's first Santa Claus visit. I think Aunt Rachel is purposely hiding in the picture!!! Grrrr... Thank you for making the trip to see us at Gertens. We had fun and hope you did too.
Kendall "chillin" in Sharon's arms.

Floyd was able to make Kendall giggle...she loved him!

Kendall Meets Santa Claus

Kendall isn't sure what to think!

She didn't cry so we were pleased.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Our "Black Friday" preparation!
Kendall sure enjoyed Uncle Brett!

Kendall reads her own books now ;)

We hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving Day! We sure did...Grandma and Grandpa Perunovich, Grandma Karen, Uncle Brett, Aunt Rachel, Bill, Great Grandma June, and Lisa came to our place for the Thanksgiving Feast. Brad and Colleen stopped by to visit as well.

Exciting Update!!

Kendall had her first real giggles!! And the best part was that Jeff and I were both there to hear them...and it was so much fun. Jeff is a little bummed though because he has to leave for work and I of course am going to spend the rest of the day trying to get her to giggle more.

Our Relaxing Weekend

HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRANDPA CAMPBELL!!!
We have a lot of pictures on our refrig and when we show her them and say there's Grandpa Campbell she almost always smiles.
Since it wasn't windy and too cold on Sunday, we went outside to help Dad rake leaves. Kendall fell asleep within 15 minutes of being outside in the baby bjorn. I love the baby bjorn...it keeps her warm and close by plus my hands are free to do other things.

Us taking it easy on the couch.

On Saturday we visited our friends Becky and Craig who live in Plymouth. It was a very nice visit and Kendall enjoyed the view of a different home. They are expecting their baby in December and I haven't seen a more beautiful baby nursery. I think Kendall was jealous :) And Jeff and I forgot to bring the camera to take pictures of our visit. We wish you the best Becky and Craig...we can not wait to meet your little one!

Hello to San Diego!

Jeff and I found this onsie in San Diego when we visited my brother back when I was about 4 months pregnant with Kendall. We both LOVE the Pirates of the Carribean movies so we had to get it for our baby. We had such a great time on our visit in San Diego and got a chance to meet my brother's friends and see his home. Hello to Stan, Mike, Steve, Tony, Fay, and Kendall (my brother has a friend named Kendall). We are looking forward to the day Kendall visits her Uncle Steve and goes to the San Diego Zoo and SeaWorld. Kendall now babbles SO much...I think she is practicing for Thanksgiving! She must know that she has to update the Grandparents on what she has been up to since their last visits. Sometimes she even talks over me...and loudly!

If you follow Food Blogs you will understand...

Kendall did tummy time while I ate breakfast.
I follow a couple food blogs (sites are to the right under Blog List if you are interested) and always wondered what it would be like to blog the food I ate. I mentioned to my co-workers that one day during my Maternity Leave I will post all that I put in my mouth just for fun. So here it is...Breakfast was banana and 2 tbsp Peanut butter mixed in Kashi oatmeal and 1 cup organic skim milk. Oh, and a prenatal MVI and 1 Omega F.A pill.

Kendall got her first set of keys today! I couldn't resist them at Target...the stop light shown lights up too. It's neat and Kendall loves them so far. She is a little bummed though b/c dad has put the Mustang away for the winter so she can't take it for a spin.

Ok, I found a Greek yogurt that I actually like! It's called OIKOS-Blueberry and one (5.3 oz) container has 13g of protein and with the 1/2 cup Kashi Go Lean Crunch cereal that I add it totals about 18g of protein! I also had about 3 cups of a spinach and romaine lettuce mix with cut up string cheese (1 oz) and 1 tbsp Caesar dressing (regular). And of course water...the entire bottled which is 26 ounces.

Snack: 1 cup skim organic milk and a Kids Clif Bar.

Dinner: 26 ounces of water, 1/2 cup strawberries, 1/2 cup corn, 4 ounce serving of Cornflake breaded chicken (I typically hate chicken but I do like this recipe), 1.5 cup herb seasoned noodles (unfortunely they are not whole grain). I use olive oil instead of butter to decrease the amount of saturated fat in our meals.
Estimated Calories today: About 1800.
Well, it was a little time consuming blogging the food, but it did make me more aware of what I was going to put in my mouth. I think it is definitely valuable to those trying to lose weight or just wanting to eat healthier to write down and show someone their intake...it makes you accountable and that's a good thing.

Making Potica...

We got 5 loaves out of this batch! There are specific loaf pans for potica bread (they are a little thinner and longer than a standard loaf pan).

Potica is known to those of Slovenian ancestry, as well as to anyone who was raised near Minnesota's Iron Range. An old world pastry, Potica is made from a dough rolled and stretched very thin (6ft by 4ft, if not longer) that a newspaper can be read through it. It's layered with a mixture of walnuts, butter, sugar, cream and vanilla (often called the "meat"), then rolled into a spiral and baked to a crisp brown. Potica can be enjoyed in many different ways; I like mine warmed along with Hot Cocoa, Jeff likes his warmed with butter, my mom likes hers warmed with butter along with coffee, my dad likes to eat the dough raw, my brother likes his made into french toast, and my Uncle Bob likes his with ham.
Us rolling it up!

My mom spreading the "meat" which is basically a dietitian's nightmare.

The start of rolling the dough out...it later after rolling it out and stretching it covered the entire table and even hung over the sides.
My mom is visiting this weekend and Kendall got to watch us make Potica. I thought it would be fun to post pics of the Potica making process. Potica is one of our family traditions...making it and eating it! I am still a beginner at making it but I have my mother and my Aunt Barb to teach me tips. We are hoping one day Kendall will want to be involved in our family tradition!! She sure enjoyed watching us make it.
Thank you Aunt Barb for the tip on making a potica board...it made the process a lot easier than using the standard table.

Don't forget to Vote

Kendall votes to have her diaper changed! She was asleep by the time we got to the voting booth so that made it easier for me to get through the voting process.

Kendall's First Trip to Hibbing

Kendall "talking" to Grandma and Grandpa after bath time

Great Grandma enjoying Kendall

Me and my great Aunt Grace

Great Uncle Danny loved Kendall...he was all smiles when he saw her.

Robin who is a good friend of my mother's put some pretty big smiles on Kendall's face. She sure had fun in Robin's arms!! Kendall also met Robin's daugther Breann...we forgot to snap a picture!

Kendall and Grandpa Perunovich

We were lucky to catch Great Aunt Danelle before she headed off to work although Kendall was asleep. Next time she'll be awake!!

Kendall visited her Great Aunt Barb...thank you Aunt Barb for the most delicious, iron range "snack" that we have ever had. I think we could have went without eating for a few days after that visit. We had to track down Uncle Bobby at Provinzino's shop where he of course was helping out with the stock/race cars. And we also made a quick stop to see my cousin Janel at the salon...we should have had her style Kendall's hair!

Gosh...we sure had a blast with Kendall's Great Aunt LeeAnn and Great Uncle Rodney. After the great fish fry my parents had at their house we spent a few hours drinking wine and talking. I have to admit I sure miss indulging in more than a small glass of wine but for now I have to keep my servings in check.
*P.S.-It's like pulling teeth to get Jeff in these pictures...he prefers to take the pictures.

Happy Halloween!

Kendall had fun looking at all of the Halloween lights my mom had in their home.

Here we are watching Kendall's first pumpkin being carved out

Below is a picture of Jane's grandson Kai...who was the cutest trick-or-treater that came to the house.
Us with Kendall's First Jack-O-Lantern

The little lady bug with my mom's good friend Pam. Kendall sure enjoyed Pam's crazy personality!!! Keep stirring the pot Pam ;)
